Update on 2021 Opening 18/02/21
When we gave our last update back in December we were looking forward to opening our doors at the end of March 2021.
Because of a legal requirement to stay at home except for essential purposes introduced by the Scottish Government due to the rise in cases of Covid-19 this year, we are not in a position to give a reopening date at this moment. This means that our site is closed to visitors for the foreseeable future and we are no longer in a position to open at the end of March.
As soon as it is safe to do so we look forward to welcoming you aboard our steam trains and through the doors of the Museum. This is of course subject to the latest Scottish Government guidance which can be found here. We will give another update in April.
Please keep checking our website, we appreciate your continued support. If you would like to donate to our SOS: Support Our SRPS Fundraising Appeal or any of our other appeals please click here.
As always, please remember that although our railway site is closed and we are not operating public trains for visitors, we need to run trains along our tracks for essential maintenance tasks. Stay safe and do not go on the train tracks.
“This hidden gem is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are really friendly and looked after us as we boarded a beautiful steam train, we saw heritage diesels too. The sights, smells and sounds really took us back in time. After a browse around the excellent Museum of Scottish Railways and a bite to eat in the Station Buffet we all agreed we would recommend it to everyone and we would definitely be back.”
