SRPS “Steaming Ahead” project – We want your opinions!!
Our planned development project, Steaming Ahead is making great strides. Read all about it here.
With a target of submission date to the Heritage Lottery Fund of late October 2018, we are busy pulling together all the different elements of the project to shape it into a fantastic development opportunity for SRPS.
As you may be aware, the project will see the construction of a new, publicly accessible steam engineering facility where lots of interpretation, talks, tours and demonstrations will take place. The access to the shed will be via the station platform and over the new level crossing. A new path cutting through the working site in front of the steam shed will take you to the new entrance of the Museum of Scottish Railways. With lots of new activities planned and opportunities for apprentices, volunteers and connections with the local community, the Steaming Ahead project will mark quite a step change for the SRPS visitor.
We would love to hear your views about our project as SRPS are determined to ensure this new development reflects the desires of our visitors and local community. Please click on the link here.
“This hidden gem is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are really friendly and looked after us as we boarded a beautiful steam train, we saw heritage diesels too. The sights, smells and sounds really took us back in time. After a browse around the excellent Museum of Scottish Railways and a bite to eat in the Station Buffet we all agreed we would recommend it to everyone and we would definitely be back.”
