Summer Diesel Gala – Back for 2020! – CANCELLED
Unfortunately we are unable to run this event in 2020
Our Summer Diesel Gala returns after a four-year hiatus!
We are excited to announce a new date for our Summer Diesel Gala on the 12th, 13th and 14th of June 2020. A Fish and Chip Special on Friday 12th June will prelude an exhilarating weekend of diesel locomotive running using the home fleet based at Bo’ness (47643, 37703 and the 126 DMU) and guest locos courtesy of our colleagues in the rail industry.
We hope to offer a varied weekend of running with trains running all day on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th and on the evening of Friday 12th. Following the success of our 2019 Winter Diesel Gala, we are preparing an exciting itinerary for the weekend including, but are already able to confirm the following attractions:
- Diesel shed workshop tours
- Museum of Scottish Railways
- Free Heritage Bus Shuttle Service from Linlithgow to Bo’ness
- Vintage Bus Rally at Bo’ness (watch out for updates)
- Bufferbeam.UK On Tour with their popular stall
- O Gauge DCC Sound Diesels on the Bo’ness O Gauge Group model railway.
We will make further announcements regarding the locomotive line up, timetable and fares in due course.
New for 2020 – Vintage Bus Rally
In association with PreScoBus we are planning a small Vintage Bus Rally, a first for the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway and something to look forward to in June! The format and buses attending will form part of our planning in the New Year, but here is a taster of the super standard of workmanship you can expect to see.
“This hidden gem is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are really friendly and looked after us as we boarded a beautiful steam train, we saw heritage diesels too. The sights, smells and sounds really took us back in time. After a browse around the excellent Museum of Scottish Railways and a bite to eat in the Station Buffet we all agreed we would recommend it to everyone and we would definitely be back.”
