Black Bun Hogmanay Steam Trains
Enjoy one of Scotland’s last steam train journeys of the year and one of the first steam train journeys of the New Year!
This holiday season there is double the opportunity to join hundreds of visitors on December 30th and 31st and January 2nd & 3rd on our Black Bun Specials.
A nostalgic steam train journey in a cosy carriage, complimentary hot drink and a slice of traditional Hogmanay black bun for the adults and shortbread and juice for the kids will make a perfect family treat to either end the year or start a new one together in style at this unique event.
The cost for tickets is £11 for adults, £10 for concessions, £6.50 for children and family tickets are £30.00. This includes a return journey on this wonderful steam train and seasonal refreshments. Black bun is a type of fruit cake completely covered with pastry. It is Scottish in origin, originally eaten on Twelfth Night but now enjoyed at Hogmanay.
There is no need to pre-book your tickets, just come along on the day. Trains will be running from Bo’ness at 10.45, 12.10 & 14.10. Just be sure to be at the station in plenty of time. Relax aboard our trains and take in the stunning scenery along the shores of the firth of Forth, with views of the majestic Ochil Hills, beautiful woods and waterfalls on a 70 minute return journey to Manuel where you can stretch your legs on the platform whilst we move the locomotive to the other end of the train for the return journey.
DON’T MISS THIS – subject to weather conditions, the Museum of Scottish Railways will be open 11am until 3pm (last admission 2.30pm).
“This hidden gem is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are really friendly and looked after us as we boarded a beautiful steam train, we saw heritage diesels too. The sights, smells and sounds really took us back in time. After a browse around the excellent Museum of Scottish Railways and a bite to eat in the Station Buffet we all agreed we would recommend it to everyone and we would definitely be back.”
