Afternoon Tea on a Steam Train at the Bo’ness & Kinneil Railway
Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes and scones with clotted cream and jam served with a pot of coffee or tea aboard a lovingly restored steam train most Saturday and Sundays and some Tuesdays, from April to October 2017.
Named as one of VisitBritain’s Top Unusual and Instagrammable Afternoon Teas, visitors enjoyed their experience as the reviews below show.
‘The trip was a surprise for my Gran who was celebrating her 75th birthday… She had a fabulous day being transported back in time in the old carriage, the afternoon tea was superb and a lot of great laughs were had by us all. Thank you again to all the friendly staff as they really did help in making it an extra special day for us and a happy memory that I am sure my gran won’t forget.’
‘…my friend and I had a really lovely day out on the train with afternoon tea, everything was perfect, staff so lovely. A lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon or any day and would definitely recommend it to others.’
Please note: exact contents may vary from the photo above but will always be a selection of delicious cakes, scones and sandwiches.

“This hidden gem is only 40 minutes drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh. The staff are really friendly and looked after us as we boarded a beautiful steam train, we saw heritage diesels too. The sights, smells and sounds really took us back in time. After a browse around the excellent Museum of Scottish Railways and a bite to eat in the Station Buffet we all agreed we would recommend it to everyone and we would definitely be back.”
